WHY SOLAR BLINDS

See out.
Keep the heat out.

A Sun Screen fabric is woven, not solid, so it filters what comes through your window instead of blocking it outright.

01

0–5% openness fabric

Choose a tighter weave for maximum heat and glare control, or a more open weave to keep more daylight and view.

02

UV & fade protection

Blocks a large share of incoming UV, helping protect hardwood floors, furniture and artwork from fading.

03

Keeps your outside view

Unlike blackout or light-filtering fabric, Sun Screen stays see-through from the inside during the day.

04

Cuts cooling costs

Less solar heat gain means less strain on air conditioning through Edmonton's hot summer afternoons.

EDMONTON BUYING GUIDE

Solar Screen fabric for Edmonton's south- and west-facing windows.

Edmonton gets intense, direct sun through spring and summer, especially on south- and west-facing windows that catch the full afternoon sun. That heat and glare makes rooms uncomfortable, washes out TVs and computer screens, and fades hardwood floors and furniture over time. Solar Blinds solve this without blacking out the room — the Sun Screen fabric filters the light instead of blocking it.

The right openness percentage depends on your window's exposure and how much view matters to you. A 0–1% openness fabric is the better choice for a west-facing living room that gets brutal late-day sun, while a 3–5% openness works well on a north- or east-facing window where you want glare control without losing much daylight or view.

Solar Blinds are also a popular choice for Edmonton home offices and rooms with a TV or monitor, where afternoon glare off a screen is a daily annoyance. Because the fabric stays see-through during the day, you keep the connection to your yard, deck or street view that a blackout fabric would remove.

FAQ

Solar Blinds questions, answered.

What openness percentages do you carry for Solar Blinds?

We carry 0%, 1%, 3% and 5% openness Sun Screen fabric. Lower percentages block more heat, glare and UV; higher percentages keep more of your outside view while still cutting glare.

Can I see outside through a Solar Blind during the day?

Yes. Sun Screen fabric is designed to be viewed through from the inside during daylight hours, which is what sets it apart from light-filtering or blackout fabric.

Do Solar Blinds work at night?

At night, once your interior lights are on, a Sun Screen fabric behaves more like a sheer — people outside can see more silhouette and movement than during the day. If nighttime privacy matters, pair it with a blackout fabric on the same window or in an adjoining room.

Will Solar Blinds actually reduce heat in summer?

Yes. Sun Screen fabric blocks a large share of solar heat gain before it enters the room, which noticeably reduces the afternoon heat build-up common on south- and west-facing Edmonton windows.

Are Solar Blinds the same as Blackout Blinds?

No. Solar Blinds (Sun Screen fabric) are woven to filter light, heat and glare while staying see-through. Blackout Roller Shades use a fully opaque fabric that blocks light completely — a different product for a different job.

Can Solar Blinds protect my furniture and flooring from fading?

Yes. Sun Screen fabric blocks a significant share of incoming UV, which slows the fading of hardwood floors, furniture and artwork from long Edmonton summer days.
